I am a classically trained painter who has spent my time in my studio exploring light and shadow. I studied Chinese brush painting for three years while living outside of Washington, D.C.
A statement made by David Hockney I heard while painting in my studio during COVID "Oriental art never deals with shadow" inspired me to take my western sensibility of form and space and apply it to influences of the Asian artists I had studied.
