As an artist for over 50 years, I first studied art history and became inspired by the Renaissance artists. Besides admiring their technical skill, I found great depth of feeling that seemed to express itself in the mere handling of the painting's drapery. While trying to master the rendering of drapery, I found I could address most anything through my own drapery paintings - from tenderness to grief to my political and environmental concerns.
